How to Compete with Big Businesses.

In today's world, it's not enough anymore to only have a page on Yelp that customers, new or returning, can reference when checking out your business. Companies, no matter how small, need to have an easy-to-navigate website customers can use to learn more about what the company has to offer. With social media and online services that make it easy to create a website, there is no reason why you shouldn't have your business online in one form or another. Here are some simple ways to get you started on competing with the big businesses in your area. 

  1. Create a website. It sounds daunting but there is an long list of websites that make it easy for you to get your information online (including but not limited to pictures, location, menu, and more). If you're looking to create a website that allows you to sell your products online (which is strongly suggested), there are sites that are designed to help you with just that.     • Things to include on your website:
      1. Your Company's Name and Location
      2. Menu/Product List - If you have a seasonal menu or specialty drinks, let your customers know about it here!
      3. About You - Let your customers know a little more about the company, whether that be how long the business has been around, the company's philosophy, or anything that you think makes your business stand out. This would also be a good place to let customers know what social media accounts or other apps your company is on.
      4. Contact Information and Hours - Make sure to leave your business's phone number and any other form of communication that would be best for customers to reach you at with any questions that they might have. Be sure to list what hours your business is open throughout the week.
      5. Pictures - Give your customers a preview of what they can expect when they walk through your door. 
      6. Sales/Promotions - Having a happy hour special? Did you just put some of your items on sale? Your customers can't take advantage of this if they don't know about it! Let them know!
  2. Create an account on an app. Don't think a website is what's right for you? Create an account on any of the apps that allow you to sell your products online. If you're a liquor store or restaurant, don't think that you won't be able to make sales on your alcohol online. There are apps just for that!
